Elizabeth Garcia

Elizabeth Garcia is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and had only planned to visit Austin in 2005 while attending Summer Intensive Spanish at McCombs School of Business. By the time the class ended, she couldn’t imagine calling any other city home.

She worked for the Office of the Texas Secretary of State from 2007-2020, where she assisted Texans from all over the state as they started new businesses and nonprofits and certified documents required for them to attend universities, work, get married, and even adopt children in foreign countries.

She earned a paralegal certificate from University of North Texas Denton in 2018 and currently serves as chair of the Capital Area Paralegal Association’s Pro Bono and Community Services Committee.

Elizabeth García es originaria de St. Louis, Missouri, y solo había planeado visitar Austin en 2005 mientras asistía a un curso de español intensivo de verano en McCombs School of Business. Cuando terminó la clase, no podía imaginarse llamar hogar a ninguna otra ciudad.

Trabajó para la Oficina del Secretario de Estado de Texas de 2007 a 2020, donde ayudó a los tejanos certificar documentos necesarios para abrir nuevos negocios, asistir a la universidad, conseguir trabajo, contraer matrimonio, e incluso la adopción de niños en el extranjero.

Obtuvo un certificado de asistente legal de la Universidad del Norte de Texas Denton en 2018 y actualmente se desempeña como presidenta del Comité de Servicios Comunitarios y Pro Bono de la Asociación de Paralegales del Área Capital.

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 3.5 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $9.12.
