The Ariba Business Network is a cloud-based business-to-business marketplace where buyers and suppliers can find each other and do business within a single, networked platform. SAP Ariba solutions will allow the Travis County Purchasing Office to collect bids and proposals from potential suppliers and quickly compare them across multiple dimensions to determine which one presents the best value.

The Travis County Purchasing Office is undergoing a broad supply chain transformation that will modernize the Travis County Purchasing Office’s business processes, in turn improving the service we provide to you and, ultimately, making it easier for you to do business with Travis County.

The first step in this transformation is to roll out the Sourcing and Contract functionality of SAP Ariba. Travis County expects to see improvements in the procurement process by:

• Increasing the number of bids to a solicitation;
• Reducing the risk of non-compliant bids;
• Reducing evaluation time for bids to award contracts faster; and
• Improving visibility and reporting on the overall process.

SAP Business Network | Getting Started

SAP Ariba procurement processes are more transparent and efficient through automation and increased visibility. Procurement documents are formatted and written with greater standardization to help simplify your interactions with the Travis County Purchasing Office. Other benefits include:

• SAP Ariba is cloud-based and accessible anywhere the internet is available;
• Electronic bidding saves time and money by eliminating the need to drop off paper copies;
• The system enables you to build your submission from the moment of posting until the closing time by providing you with a workspace to save your progress;
• The notification function is robust. Once you indicate your intention to participate in an event, the system will send notifications for addendums, extended or canceled solicitations, or other related information;
• Ariba provides a consolidated view of all opportunities via Travis County’s Ariba Discovery Network portal; and
• Access to other procurement opportunities in the Ariba Discovery Network portal, which is a global network providing opportunities from other customer organizations within SAP Ariba. (Please be aware that there might be associated costs for responding to opportunities with other organizations on this network).
