Filing Process

Determine Who To File a Complaint With

This page provides information on how to report the following violations:

  • Hazards in the line of sight that are not creating an immediate safety hazard
  • Obstruction hazards that are not creating an immediate safety hazard
  • Drainage blocks

If these don’t describe your situation, please reach out to one of the following instead:

  1. Sheriff’s Department
    • Please contact Travis County Sheriff’s Department about the following violations:
      • Objects in the Travis County that create an immediate safety hazard
      • Traffic hazards, such as objects in the road
      • Motorized vehicles in the Travis County right-of-way
  2. Other Jurisdictions
    • This website provides information on violations that occurred outside corporate city limits in Travis County. If that’s not the case, please contact the appropriate jurisdiction instead.

Gather Required Information

  • Name
  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • The exact address where the alleged violation is occurring and the nature of the violation (e.g. failure to obtain a permit, dirt and debris tracked onto roadway, septic system failure or discharge, etc.)

Create an Account

Once you complete the previous steps, please proceed to create an online account on our permitting and complaint platform.

Schedule an inspection of the temporary correction (if applicable)

Log into your account and visit the Solution Center .

Please select the appropriate new application type that best describes the type of complaint you want to report. Follow the instructions in the platform.

TAX RATE: TRAVIS COUNTY ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR’S TAX RATE. THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY BE RAISED BY 3.5 PERCENT AND WILL RAISE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS ON A $100,000 HOME BY APPROXIMATELY $9.12.
