Travis County STAR Flight provides a process for patients who are unable to pay their emergency air medical transport bill in full to request financial hardship assistance. This page walks through the application process step by step and explains where to direct related billing or records requests.

Request Financial Hardship Assistance

If you are experiencing difficulty paying your STAR Flight bill, you may request financial hardship assistance. Submitting a request places your billing account on hold while your information is reviewed. The steps below explain how the process works and what to expect.

Complete the Personal Financial Statement

Download and complete the Personal Financial Statement form. The form must be fully completed and notarized before submission.

Gather Supporting Information 

You may include a personal letter or additional documentation that helps explain your financial circumstances. This information may be considered during review.

Submit Your Request

Submit your completed and notarized Personal Financial Statement using one of the following methods:

Billing Account Placed on Hold

Once your request is received, your billing account will be placed on hold. You will not receive invoices while your request is under review.

Review and Determination

Your request is reviewed along with the patient chart and any additional information provided. A determination is made by Travis County Emergency Services leadership.

Outcome and Next Steps

You will be contacted to discuss the outcome of your request and any next steps related to your account.

For requests involving patient records, billing records tied to an individual, subpoenas, or HIPAA authorizations, STAR Flight handles intake directly. Place your request through any of the avenues below:
